I am from Czechoslovakia and until 1989 Metallica was officially forbidden - did not exist! But we FUCKED all communist beasts and smuggled it from everywhere(I got my Master of puppets tape from Poland 4 months after it was released) , so imagine band does not exist but anyway it is most popular in the country (never mentioned in newspapers, radio or TV!). Even iron curtain did not stop us! We czechs and slovaks are the best fans! Many of us still do not understand a single word from lyrics (not me) but we were all crying when we heard that one of the members died - from Voice of America that was hevily jammed (we did not know the names of the guys at that time so we for 2 years thought it is over).
